Prologue
It was winter when I first saw her. Why was it always winter? Maybe the Man in the Moon decided my destiny again, or maybe the naughty wind brought me here. Silver strands from her hair was flying in the winter storm, no, it was more like the colour of snow. She was different, nobody else would dare to stroll around in the mountains in this condition. The way she stood, the way she held herself was like as if she owned the place. Her mighty presence filled the atmosphere, spiking through my already cold blooded body.
A Queen. The wind whispered.
A queen? Probably, but I never imagined she would be my queen.
This was a mistake to begin with, Jack, stop yourself before history repeats itself again.
Chapter 1
“Jack! I seriously need some fresh air, the minister of defence is driving me crazy” Elsa stormed in while I was reading a book by the window. “Honestly, what are my powers for if I can’t freeze that tiny brain of his.” she grunted.
A small chuckle escaped my mouth. Elsa was too adorable to be a queen, I thought. “Then how about let’s get some fresh air nearby?”
Elsa grabbed my arms and gave a sweet smile “You understand me too well.”
The Sun was shining brightly and the cool breeze was starting to pick up. Spring might be the most beautiful season of the year – with fields of flowers blooming and birds flying freely in the sky. However, it might be the most distraught moment of my life. Winter is next, where will the Wind bring me this time?
“Hey.” Elsa snapped me back into reality. “I was just saying whether we should go to the lake to have a picnic? Just the two of us, no Anna, Olaf or any of our guards. Sounds like an adventure doesn’t it?” her eyes gleamed.
“Erm, yeah sure.” I was a bit disappointed with how I sounded quite melancholy. I sighed and said “I’m sorry if I’m a bit moody today, today’s just not the day you know, but a picnic with you should make it better.”
Elsa stopped it front of me and cupped my face in her hands. “Come on dear, what’s wrong? I’ve noticed that you haven’t been quite yourself recently.” Her eyes were a beautiful shade of blue.
Tell her. The Wind whispered. At this point, I really wanted to punch the Wind in the face if it was possible at all.
Deep down in my heart I know she would try to understand the things that are bothering me, but at the same time, we are too similar. The times we spent talking for hours about our history, our family and our lives were so mirrored that it made it easy for us to connect and sympathize with one another. This makes it even harder to share something that she might not even comprehend. That is why I am holding back. I would say it again – winter was coming, and that usually doesn’t mean good things.
“Nah, don’t worry about it. Should we have sandwiches or something else? I’m suddenly craving for some fruit cake.” I gave her a half hearted smile.
Elsa doesn’t look convinced at all but she knew too well than to pester me to talk about it. “Shall we have both then? With wine perhaps?” she giggled to clear the cloudy atmosphere away.
“Wine in the middle of the day? You must be crazy! If only your people knew what an alcoholic you were.” I acted shocked. “Oi hear hear ye people! Her majesty is nothing but a drunkard that is incapable of running the kingdom. Henceforth, your new King Jack Frost is here to shed light on you people once more again!”
Her hands covered my mouth “ Shhhh! There are guards round!”
“Hail King Jack! Hail King Jack!” I muffled through her fingers.
She led me back into the palace and said “Stop playing a fool around. Let’s go get started on our picnic. A queen has other duties as well you know. I’m a busy woman.”
My heart ached for a moment. What a terrible timing it has been recently. Oh Elsa, there’s so many things I am dying to tell you. However, even time wouldn’t allow me to spill it. Should I not say it at all?
I’m immortal after all, and the person I need to tell the most shouldn’t hear one bit.
please….you cant even spell it right….
